Importing an existing wallet

Viper Wallet allows you to import an existing Solana-based wallet using your seed phrase (recovery phrase) or private key. This feature is useful if you are migrating from another wallet (e.g., Phantom, Solflare, or Trust Wallet) or restoring access to your funds. Below is a detailed step-by-step guide.

Step 1: Download and Open Viper Wallet

Before importing, ensure you have Viper Wallet installed on your preferred platform:

  • Google Chrome Extension (via Chrome Web Store)

  • Windows Desktop App (download from ViperLabs official website)

  • Android APK (available for mobile users) (macOS and iOS versions coming soon)

Open the application after installation.

Step 2: Select "Import Wallet" Option

When you launch Viper Wallet, you will see two primary options:

  • Create New Wallet (for new users)

  • Import Wallet (for existing wallet holders)

Click "Import Wallet" to proceed.

Step 3: Enter Your Seed Phrase or Private Key

You can import your wallet in two ways:

Option A: Using a Seed Phrase (Recommended)

  • A seed phrase is a 12 or 24-word recovery phrase generated when you first created your wallet.

  • Enter each word in the correct order, separated by a single space.

  • Example:

  • Ensure there are no spelling mistakes or extra spaces.

Step 4: Verify and Confirm

  • After entering your seed phrase or private key, Viper Wallet will validate it.

  • If incorrect, you will receive an error (e.g., "Invalid seed phrase"). Double-check and try again.

Step 5: Set Up Additional Security (Optional but Recommended)

To enhance security, Viper Wallet allows you to:

  • Set a PIN code (for quick access while keeping your wallet secure).

  • Enable biometric authentication (if supported on your device).

Step 6: Wallet Successfully Imported

Once completed:

  • Your Solana (SOL) and SPL token balances will appear.

  • You can now send, receive, and manage tokens within Viper Wallet.

  • Check your transaction history under the "Activity" tab.

Important Security Notes

Troubleshooting

🔹 "Invalid Seed Phrase" error?

  • Check for typos, extra spaces, or missing words.

  • Ensure you are using the correct phrase from your original wallet.

🔹 "Wallet not detected"?

  • Verify that the wallet was originally created on the Solana network.

  • Some wallets (e.g., MetaMask) use different chains—Viper Wallet only supports Solana.

🔹 Funds not appearing?

  • Check your Solana address on a block explorer (e.g., Solscan).

  • Ensure you imported the correct wallet.
